Why Are There Hot Spots in My Home?

AC-Technician-at workThe whole point of using a whole-house cooling system — or a whole-house heating system, for that matter — is to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout your entire house efficient and conveniently. If you are walking through your home, only to discover that there are various hot spots sprinkled throughout it,  then there is a problem that needs to be addressed. What exactly that problem is can vary greatly,  though. If you want to resolve the issue successfully,  it is important that you know exactly what the root cause of the situation is.

Only trained professionals can do this with certainty. You may be dealing with a malfunctioning air conditioner, or the cause of the problem could be entirely outside of the AC itself.  Whatever the case, you can count on our technicians to get the bottom of things. Once we have, we can repair the system as needed or make recommendations for required services that are not in our wheelhouse. Get your air conditioner in Bolingbrook, IL back on track ASAP!

Problems with Insulation

Have you always had trouble with heating and/or cooling specific areas of your home? If so, it is possible that these areas just are not sufficiently insulated. Adding more insulation to them could help to eliminate unwanted heat transfer that can cause hot and cold spots throughout the seasons. Even if it is a new development,  it could still be an insulation problem. It is possible that you have a leak that has degraded the insulation in these areas,  or that pests have taken up residence and compromised it.

Problems with the Air Conditioner

If your system is failing to distribute a sufficient amount of cool air throughout the house, there could be a few different problems at play. You could have a refrigerant leak, for instance, and the system is struggling to successfully remove heat from the air passing over the evaporator coil. Maybe the fan itself is to blame, and is not able to force air throughout the whole system successfully. Again, the only way to have your system properly diagnosed is to call in professionals to do the job.

Problems with the Ductwork

Another possibility is that your air conditioner itself is working just fine,  but the ductwork that it uses to distribute cooled air throughout your home is compromised. If this is the case, then sealing or repairing the ductwork may fix the problem. If it is extensively damaged, or poor duct design is to blame, then it may have to be replaced altogether.

As you can see, there are always multiple issues that you could be facing when you encounter problems with your AC. A correct diagnosis of any such problem is just as important as quality repair services. Do not take any chances with unqualified individuals. Schedule your AC services with trained and experienced professionals, every time.
