Bolingbrook Thermostat Service
At DuAll Heating & Cooling, many of our HVAC service calls in Bolingbrook, Naperville, Plainfield, and Romeoville turn out to be problems with a thermostat. As the interface between you and your heating or cooling system, thermostats are used year–round. Although they’re usually built to handle a lot of usage, their internal components can wear out or need an adjustment. DuAll Heating & Cooling’s certified staff can fix most thermostat problems, but we often find for most homes in the Bolingbrook and Naperville area that replacing an old or broken thermostat makes more sense.
All thermostats are basically remote electrical switches that turn your HVAC system on and off. But the similarity ends there. Some must be connected by wires to your heater or AC unit, and some take advantage of new wireless technology. There are simple, mechanical thermostats that you set by hand, and thermostats that can be operated remotely through a computer or mobile device. These are the different types and combinations available:
- Wired Thermostats – These traditional style thermostats are mounted on the wall and connect to your HVAC system by wires. Replacing an old wired unit with a new one is usually fairly straightforward because the wiring system is already in place. But adding a new one means running wires through the walls, which can present some challenges.
- Wireless Thermostats – Take advantage of wireless technology, which means they can be mounted just about anywhere and easily moved. Some wireless units can also be accessed and adjusted remotely.
- Digital – Rather than relying on a mercury switch and internal spring that expands and contracts with the room temperature, these thermostats rely on an internal electrical circuit to sense the temperature and activate the HVAC system.
- Programmable – These thermostats can be programmed to turn on and off at certain times to coordinate with your work schedule and save energy by not heating or cooling an empty house all day.
Thermostat Installation and Replacement in Bolingbrook and Surrounding Areas
Even if the thermostats in your Bolingbrook home are working correctly, you may want to consider replacing them with new wireless or programmable models. They allow you to turn the heat or air conditioning down during the day while you’re at work and then start warming or cooling your house just before you get home. Remotely controllable wireless models provide an even greater level of flexibility by allowing you to regulate the temperature while you’re at work or away on a trip. And when you’re at home, you can control the temperature with a hand held remote control – just like a television or DVD player.
At DuAll Heating & Cooling, we can install any style thermostat that fits your needs and lifestyle. We’ll make sure the new units are safely integrated with your HVAC equipment and household electricity. If you’re adding a room or renovating your home in Bolingbrook, Naperville, Plainfield, or Romeoville and you need an old thermostat repaired or a new thermostat installed, give us a call.
